Positioned 1450 ft above the valley ground on the Sonoma facet of Mount Veeder, a mere 400 yards from the Napa County Line, Kamen Property Wines produces hand-crafted Cabernet and Syrah wines from vineyards which are organically and biodynamically farmed in fractured volcanic rock soils.Viticulturist Phil Coturri, a pioneer in natural and biodynamic farming in Napa and Sonoma Valley, combines forces with famend winemaker Mark Herold whose mission is to provide intense, extremely extracted, terroir-driven wines.The philosophy is easy:ripe fruit, low yields and prime quality.HistoryEstablished in 1999.In 1980, Robert Kamen bought 280 acres of the southwestern slopes of the Mayacamas Vary in Sonoma County. This distant mountainous property was rugged, overgrown and very rocky: virgin territory with no roads or energy. From the start, Robert had a transparent idea of what he supposed for his property. At first was the need to plant the very best high quality Cabernet Sauvignon.Initially, Kamen fruit was bought to premium Sonoma wineries. In 1996, a devastating fireplace tore via the property destroying half of the vines together with Robert’s dwelling. The place others would see this as an amazing setback, Robert’s credo, “Every little thing occurs for a motive”, held sway.
