The House Ranch, now often called the Stone Winery, is bordered to the north by a forest of Douglas Fir and oak, and to the south by a tributary of the Russian River, and is planted in Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay. The House Ranch itself takes the form of a small valley, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot planted within the skinny chalky soils of its surrounding hills and Chardonnay rising within the barely richer soils of the foothills under.
